Another Brick In The Wall - Placement Version

Another Brick in The Wall is by far Pink Floyd's greatest ever mainstream success, instantly attaining classic status, and is perhaps their most famous piece of work. The song had a huge influence upon me. Apart from that, "Pink Floyd - The Wall" film is also a great inspiration because of its psychedelic visuals and the musical treatment of the film. If you haven't watched the film, I would say that you must watch it. This influence, and the situation I was in at that time has forced me to make a film with a blend of both.

I know, I know. I know that I cant reach the standards of The Wall but I cant stop myself from doing this. If not, I will end up having sleepless nights and lucid dreams so I have decided to just make it whatever the way it is possible. I can't get a big crew so I have requested my friends to be in the film. I also cant make up them for the roles so I have decided to shoot on the occasion on which they will be the way I want them to i.e. graduation party.

As long as I can remember it was more than a year ago. We were all dressed up in formals for the occasion. After we are done with our graduation party we had a very long photo session with every one making as many weird poses as they can make at that time. Before the ceremony itself I have told my friends to be ready for a small video shoot. They all agreed to be in it considering the status of my previous films. Every body is probably expecting some good roles in it but it turned out to be totally different (to them).

The idea was to adopt Another Brick In The Wall which criticizes the educational system in high schools to criticize the placement system in the grad schools. I had some story in my mind with some interview scenes of a graduates who wanted to take  different paths but due to the peer pressure they choose placements. It goes with they suffering the placement process and corporate work and finally reliving themselves by kicking their boss ass. As for the graduation day I thought of shooting the scenes involving group of students. The shooting went well apart from minor logistical problems but the other scenes involving the story of individual students were never shot due to the wrong time of the shooting i.e. end of the semester and graduation.

I dropped the idea of making the video as the required scenes were not shot and can never be shot but the footage has been with me transferring from one hard disk to other. When ever I hear Pink Floyd, this idea of making the video pricks my brain, it leaves me in despair. What can I do, I can't complete it the way I wanted it to be. After thinking a lot i decided to just make whatever is possible from the available footage so I edited the whole thing trying to bring the same core meaning of the story that I had in my mind long back. Due to the low footage you can see the repeated scenes in the video but I guess it suits the way it is edited. Well, that's it no more regrets and no more backlogs. Here is the video.

Last but not least, here is the quote sort of  related to the video

"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. "

Flying Fox Ziplining - Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur

It was during last year Christmas when me and friends have decided to go on a bike trip. We have shortlisted some good circuits over Himachal, Uttarakhand, even Nepal but finally decided to go for Rajasthan as its the best time to visit and also it has very good road which make the trip very smooth for some of my friends to whom this is a first bike trip.

We have completed our whole trip which started at Delhi, then Jaipur, Pushkar after that Jaisalmer and finally ended at Jodhpur. My friends have to hurry to there respective places, Banglore, Jalandhar, Guwahati, where they work. They left from Jodhpur without even having a glimpse of Jodhpur(we spent a lot of time in Jaisalmer). As I have to go back to Delhi and had a pretty good time, I stayed there and thought of visiting some places in Jodhpur. My friends are not with me(Lonely I am Mr. Lonely ... I have nobody, with meee ...) and I was pretty much tired. I lost my interest in having a look at Jodhpur but one thing stopped me i.e. Flying Fox Zipilining. It more of filming it than experiencing it.

Flying Fox Jodhpur is a zipline tour located inside the property of Mehrangarh Fort Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The tour comprises 6 separate ziplines which fly you around the fort, providing extraordinary and unique views. The tour crosses battlements, lakes and valleys. Expert trainers accompany every tour and tours depart hourly throughout the day. Its a bit costly(2000/-) for me as I was not in a position to spend money but I have decided to go for it to capture the whole experience visually with my camera.

Initially the trainers introduced us to the essential safety gear, I took the one which fit me and then they trained us in a park beside the office over small zipline about how we should manage the gear, keep our body poster during ziplining  and all. I remember a married lady got scared of the whole as she failed to mange the gear but the trainers helped and comforted her by saying that its easy to learn and do it and you can manager easily, her husband joined them by encouraging her but she was really scared of the whole thing. In fact it was easy, most of the people were comfortable. After the small training session, everyone was ready(except her) and we all took the stairs towards the top of the fort where our first zipline was set.

Mehrangarh fort is a mighty fort with all the hills around and beneath it. Its surrounded with beautiful lake and colorful old city beside (you can see the fort in The Dark Knight Rises when Christian Bale comes out of the prison well). One thing that made me love that fort is even after so many year it is still strong. Looks like it has never lost its beauty.

That's it, I wont say much as you can almost experience the whole thing from this video. Hold on to your seats ;)
